Airoh Sunshine State Series 2017 85cc – Mini Lites 12-13yrs
Round 5 Tivoli QLD
Tivoli was a good weekend wining the overall round going 1,3,1 – track started out great by second race weather opened up raining which I thought was terrible but Brad loves riding in the rain for some reason not sure why because it never rains where we live in Dingo Central Qld but anyway. Wining the overall put us 1 point leading the championship going into Toowoomba.
Airoh Sunshine State Series 2017 85cc 12-13yrs
Round 6 Toowoomba QLD
Toowoomba was not a good round we struggled in practice and in racing all day with some tuff racing with competitors that usually don’t come close to us. We struggled with some sections with attacking the up and down hill sections. We learnt a lot and walked away from there in 2nd place for the championship.
What have we been up to so far, well we have been doing some local racers and testing lots of suspension settings. Last month we acquired a KX250F from Mr Rosenberg and have been doing lots of testing trying to get suspension where it needs to be for a 45kg rider which was not easy but the verdict is his loves the bike and the handling.
We missed out being selected for the World Jnr Nationals this year which he was not impressed about very much but that life.
Racing coming up before Qld Titles are
Rockhampton Central Queensland round 6 ( riding both classes )
We have been training lots ready for the up and coming Queensland State Titles being held at Townsville and Tivoli on 5th & 6th August and the 26th & 27th August. We are competing in the 85cc 12-13yrs & 250cc 13-14yrs, the 250cc class will be a learning experience for track time in preparation for the 85cc, well that is what he has been told.
Preparation this year has been very good and healthy - Training is still very heavy on at the moment because after the State Titles we have the Australian Jnr Nationals being held at Horsham Victoria at the end of September. We are not sure about riding the 250 there yet but still thinking of track time.
Training is getting easy now with a full time mechanic again at the Ranch which makes family time much more enjoyable and more of it with 2 kids racing.
Our vision is still to be a good mini rider but be the best senior rider as possible which is coming fast.
After we compete in the Australian Jnr Nationals 2017 we are still planning to compete in the USA Mini O’s held in Gatorback Florida 2017.
Motorcycling Australia has just announced that the Australia Jnr Supercross 2017 is a championship class but the problem is that it is very close to the Australian Jnr Mx
Nationals at the end of the year and is too risky and not worth risking injury over. So it looks like we won’t compete at this stage.
