West brothers take wins in Rockhampton sand

The West brothers contested the second Round of the CQ Motocross Series on the sandy circuit at Six Mile Raceway at Rockhampton.

After travelling up and down the coast recently, the 1.5-hour trip was a welcome change for the team.

Brad was once again aboard the 2019 KX250 in the 13-U15 and managed to take wins in all four Races over two-day event,

Brad explained, “For the final race on Sunday the track was the roughest that I have ever seen it. I had to be selective with line selection, which in these conditions, is a very important skill to help get around the track quickly and consistently.”

Younger brother Jason raced his 2019 KX85 in the sand, and like Brad, managed to take the win in all four motos. Jason used the weekend to test some new fork settings, which helped in managing the rough conditions that Six Mile is known for.

Both Brad and Jason also added that they were stoked to have the impressive Bridgestone Battlecross tyres which were the perfect tool to deal with the sandy soil.

The team were also quick to praise the Rockhampton club for hosting a great event with very challenging track conditions. The Six Mile Race way will host the 2020 Australian Junior Motocross National, which will bring 400 – 600 people to the Central Queensland town – and both boys can’t wait!
